Sam Newsome Interview

Dear friends and followers, Apologies for my prolonged absence from this section of the site! Since I last posted, I completed my MA in composition, culminating in a recital that featured new works for string quartet, wind quartet, vocal ensemble,  jazz trio and a 12-piece mixed ensemble. The night before that recital, I was privileged to perform at Roulette in New York City as part of Anthony Braxton's Falling River Nonet. This was an ensemble composed of many musicians that I respect and admire, and was a musical highlight of my life thus far! The next big event was my move with my significant other to Morelia, Mexico, where I have now been for 9 months. It has been a big change, and I am working on integrating myself into another culture, language and music scene! Currently I am working on musical plans for 2015, which will include a trip to New York City in April to play and record. I'm really looking forward to being back in the city again! Recently I was invited to do an interview with the amazing soprano saxophonist Sam Newsome for his blog, sopranosaxtalk. It was really fun to think about and discuss all things saxophone, and his questions were very insightful! The article is linked below. Thanks for reading, and I hope that you are well and we can cross paths in 2015, Jasmine Screen Shot 2015-02-16 at 11.47.30 AM
